Dear GCG Parents, Athletes, Volunteers & Sponsors:
Hope you and your family are doing well during this challenging time. We have some very important updates to share and exciting news for our GCG family! 😊
Firstly, unfortunately, as you know the GCG Heritage Night was cancelled. Per MLSE, they have informed us that:
“At this time, the NBA is still hoping that these games can be made up at a later date. The tickets purchased originally for April 3rd would work for the make up date against the Bucks. If this game does not take place at a later date, there will be a full refund for all tickets purchased.”
This is a decision made by MLSE and if you have any further questions, please contact MLSE or Ticketmaster. We will keep you posted with any updates and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Secondly, we were excited to launch the 2020 Greek-Canadian Games. We had obtained a Full Permit to 650 Cosburn Ave, (legally we can’t share the name of the School) for Saturday, May 30th to Sunday, May 31st. Unfortunately, secondary to the COVID 19 Pandemic the Games have been cancelled by the TDSB.
However, we are very excited to announce the GCG Virtual Get Together 2020 happening on Saturday May 30th, 2020 at 11:00AM. We will send you the link for this event at a later date.
The Greek-Canadian Games are honoured to announce this years GCG Ambassadors. This years GCG Ambassadors include the following: Mr. Andreas Athanasiou from the Edmonton Oilers, and Mr. Joseph Polossifakis, 2016 Summer Olympian representing Canada of Greek descent in Fencing. We could not be more excited about having these two wonderful Ambassadors.
On Wednesday May 13th, 2020 (TODAY) Andreas Athanasiou will unveil the “GCG Ball Hockey Skills Challenge”, and Joseph Polossifakis will unveil the “GCG Positive Activity Challenge”. We invite EVERYONE to participate, especially our amazing GCG Athletes and Volunteers. You are invited to participate in both challenges if you like. Please remember, they are two separate challenges.
You can participate by either:

b) OR by tagging your video on social media either on “Facebook” at @Greek-Canadian Games, or on “Instagram” at @thegcgs.
You will have until Sunday May 24th, 2020 at 12:00PM (NOON) Eastern Time to submit your videos and all entrants will automatically qualify for raffles that will include autographs from Andreas Athanasiou & Joseph Polossifakis.
We will take the videos (hopefully, we can include all of them) you have submitted and create two separate Video Montages of the challenges that will be played on Saturday, May 30th at our Virtual Get Together at 11:00AM. We will also have “Interactive Activities” lead by Mariah Kontopoulos and a special word from Foti Karantonis on this exciting day!
