The Phrixos Papachristidis Chair in Greek and Greek-Canadian Studies, and the Department of History and Classical Studies, invite you to a week of events to celebrate 60 years of teaching Greek at McGill University.

1) Greek Centennials: “Celebrating victories and defeats” Presented by Prof. Christina Koulouri, Professor in Modern and Contemporary History and Rector of Panteion University of Political and Social Sciences, Athens.

2) Bicentennial Blues: “Greece and the Shackles of the Western Imagination” The History & Classical Studies Dept Homecoming Lecture presented by Prof. Tassos Anastassiadis, Associate Professor of History & Phrixos B. Papachristidis Chair in Modern Greek Studies, McGill University.

3) Empires Domesticated: “Travel, Arts and Culture in Ottoman Greek Merchants’ Homes in the 1700s” The Tom Nacos & Family Annual Lecture presented by Dr. Maria Georgopoulou, Director of the Gennadius Library of the American School of Classical Studies at Athens.
