Fotini Mitsiopoulos, Greek-Canadian artist from Thessaloniki and a member of the Mississauga Art Society (MAS) showcased her spring art pieces at the MAS Gallery Show at the Visual Arts Mississauga (VAM) building from April 28 – 30th. The VAM is located in the heart of Mississauga surrounded by 150 acres of urban wilderness just off Burnhamthorpe Road West and the Credit River. This serene location is also the home of the Mississauga Art Society.
The Mississauga Art Society is a select group of 23 artists from the City of Mississauga. Each with their own unique and diverse artistic style unite in showcasing beautiful art pieces at their spring and fall art shows. Throughout the year, meetings are held where the artists share their ideas, paint and critique each other’s work. Art demonstrations for the community are also presented by the members at various events and city locations.
Fotini came to Canada in 1987 and several years later became a member of this select and diverse group of artists in Mississauga. The technique used most in her pieces is textured art using real materials to bring to life the created images in her acrylic paintings. Art has been and continues to be Fotini’s passion since she began painting from a young girl. Today, being a member of the MAS and in the company of its talented artists is an opportunity she greatly respects and appreciates.
