61η επέτειος Κυπριακής Ανεξαρτησίας Έπαρση Κυπριακής Σημαίας στο Κοινοβούλιο του Οντάριο

Τιμώντας την 61η Επέτειο της Ανεξαρτησίας της Κύπρου, η Κυπριακή Ομοσπονδία Καναδά υπό την Αιγίδα του Ύπατου Αρμοστή της Κυπριακής Δημοκρατίας στον Καναδά κ. Βασίλη Φιλίππου, ύψωσαν τη Σημαία της Μεγαλονήσου στο Επαρχιακό Κοινοβούλιο του Οντάριο.

Tελετάρχισσα της όλης εκδήλωσης ήταν η κυρία Χριστίνα Αμυγδαλίδη, Πρόεδρος της Κυπριακής Ομοσπονδίας Καναδά, η οποία εκ μέρους του Προέδρου της Βουλής Hon. Ted Arnott και εκ μέρους της Κυπριακής Ομοσπονδίας Καναδά, καλωσόρισε και ευχαρίστησε όλους τους παρευρισκομένους που τίμησαν με την παρουσία τους την όλη εκδήλωση και στην συνέχεια διάβασε τον εγκάρδιο χαιρετισμό του Προέδρου της Βουλής, στον χαιρετισμό της η ίδια καλωσόρισε τον Εξοχώτατο Ύπατο Αρμοστή της Κυπριακής Δημοκρατίας στον Καναδά και  όλους τους παρευρισκομένους, το καθένα ξεχωριστά  και μεταξύ άλλων είπε και τα ακόλουθα:

“As we celebrate the National Independence day of Cyprus, we also welcome once again to our city His Excellency, the High Commissioner of the Republic of Cyprus to Canada, Dr. Vasilios Philippou. We applaud and congratulate the Cypriot Government for the establishment of our Embassy in Ottawa.  The establishment of our Embassy in Ottawa has strengthened the ties between our two nations and together have promoted peace and regional stability. 

We would like to congratulate His Excellency, Dr. Vasilios Philippou, resident in and accredited to Canada, for his important contribution to the further strengthening of bilateral relations and the promotion of a positive dialogue between Cyprus and Canada.  

Cyprus, since its independence is committed to the core principles of its Constitution guaranteeing the rights and freedoms of all its citizens.  In addition the Cypriot people living in Canada, through their hard work and dedication, have contributed to the richness and wealth of the Canadian society at large. Canada and the Republic of Cyprus enjoy a dynamic and friendly relationship, built upon shared values of justice, democracy, freedom, peace, security and independence.

The friendship between Canada and the Republic of Cyprus goes back many years ago since the creation of Canada’s peacekeeping operation in Cyprus.  This year’s Independence arrives at a time of hope for all the people of Cyprus that hopefully through negotiations a justifiable and peaceful solution can be found and Cyprus will become once again a Free and Sovereign Nation”

Στο τέλος της εκδήλωσης ευχαρίστησε θερμά όλους όσους είχαν συνδράμει στην άψογη οργάνωση της εκδήλωσης, το Διοικητικό Συμβούλιο και τα μέλη της Κυπριακής Ομοσπονδίας Καναδά, καθώς επίσης και τα μέσα μαζικής ενημέρωσης.  Την κυρία Κατερίνα Γερασκλή, αρχισυντάκτρια της εφημερίδας ο «ΤΥΠΟ» και τον κύριο Γιώργο Τριανταφυλλίδη για την κάλυψη της εκδήλωσης αυτής.
