To the members of the Hellenic Home

The Annual Meeting of the Hellenic Home was held on Sunday, June 11, 2023. This year the elections for a new Board of Directors and Ladies Auxiliary will be held on Sunday, October 29, 2023, from 1:00pm to 5:00 pm at The Greek Community of Toronto at 30 Thorncliffe Park Drive. An Elections Committee was appointed at the Annual Meeting of the members consisting of: Mrs. Irene Keroglidis (Chairperson), Mr. Andonis Artemakis, Mrs. Voula Karagiannis and Ms. Theodora Koutsoumbou.
The information below has been compiled as your guide on how to vote or to be a candidate for:
(a) a Director of the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Home; or,
(b) a Councillor of the Ladies Auxiliary Council of the Hellenic Home.
NOTE:
Whoever is elected to the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Home for the Aged Inc. is automatically elected to the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Care for Seniors (Toronto/Scarborough) Inc. and vice versa. In other words, the Hellenic Home for the Aged Inc., and the Hellenic Care for Seniors (Toronto/Scarborough) Inc. have one and the same Board of Directors. For purposes of brevity, the Hellenic Home for the Aged Inc., and the Hellenic Care for Seniors (Toronto/Scarborough) Inc. will be referred as “Hellenic Home”.
DATE OF THE ELECTIONS
The elections for Board of Directors of the Hellenic Home and the Council of the Ladies Auxiliary will be held on Sunday, October 29, 2023, at the Greek Community of Toronto at 30 Thorncliffe Park Drive. ONLY AT THIS LOCATION. PLEASE BRING PHOTO ID. The election polling booths will be open at 1:00 pm and will close at 5:00 pm.
ELIGIBILITY TO VOTE AT THE OCTOBER 29, 2023, ELECTIONS For the Board of Directors
A member of the Hellenic Home may vote as long as he or she:
is a member in good standing and has paid their 2023 membership fees; and, • his/her name appears on the official Voters List.
Please note that former members who wish to run for a Board position or to vote on Election Day can do so by paying their 2023 membership fees and applying to correct the Voters List on or before October 4, 2023
For the Council of the Ladies Auxiliary
A female member of the Hellenic Home may vote as long as she:
is a member in good standing and has paid their 2023 membership fees; and, • her name appears on the official Voters List.
WHAT YOU NEED TO DO IF YOUR NAME DOES NOT APPEAR IN THE VOTERS LIST
The Preliminary Voters List will be available and posted at the front reception at: the Hellenic Home for the Aged Inc, 33 Winona Drive, Toronto by September 15, 2023. The members of the Hellenic Home may inspect the Voters List to ensure that their name is properly entered and also that all related information is correct. If your name does not appear on the Voters List, or it is not entered correctly, in order to correct the error please notify Penny Stathopoulos at the Hellenic Home in writing before October 4, 2023.
A final Voters List will be available and posted at the front reception at: the Hellenic Home for the Aged Inc, 33 Winona Drive, Toronto by October 22, 2023.
Expired Membership
If your membership has expired and you wish to vote, you have the opportunity to do so by renewing your membership by October 4, 2023, at 5:00 pm. If your membership is not renewed on or before the October 4, 2023, deadline, you will not be eligible to vote.
ELIGIBILITY TO BE A CANDIDATE (FOR ELECTION)
Board of Directors
All members that are nominated for election to the Board must:
be members in good standing for a minimum of six months (April 29, 2023) prior to the date of the election (October 29, 2023);
have paid their membership dues for 2023;
submit a completed Nomination Form for Election to the Board of Directors (provided by Penny Stathopoulos) by September 29, 2023, at 5:00 pm; • be nominated by two members in good standing; and,
not be ineligible to act as members of the Board;
Council of the Ladies Auxiliary
All members that are nominated for election to the Ladies Auxiliary must:
be members in good standing for a minimum of six months (April 29, 2023) prior to the date of the election (October 29, 2023);
have paid their membership dues for 2023;
submit a completed Nomination Form for Election to the Ladies Auxiliary (provided by Penny Stathopoulos) by September 29, 2023, at 5:00 pm; and,
be nominated by two members in good standing.
