Message from the Mayor for the 60th anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Cyprus

 I would like to extend my sincere congratulations and best wishes to the Cypriot Federation of Canada Inc. on its 60th anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Cyprus. I would also like to extend a welcome to His Excellency, Vasilis Philippou, High Commissioner of the Republic of Cyprus in Ottawa, who is hosting today's event.

Today’s flag raising provides us with an opportunity to acknowledge the achievements of the Cypriot community and celebrate the traditions, heritage and culture of Cypriots across the city.

Toronto is one of the world's most multicultural cities and home to people from all over the world. The valued contributions of multicultural communities strengthen our society and contribute to our city's motto "Diversity Our Strength".
