I would like to extend my sincere best wishers and congratulations as the Hellenic Republic marks the 200th anniversary of the Greek Revolution of 1821.
This special occasion is an opportunity to recognize the achievements, rich history and culture of the Hellenic Republic’s people. It serves as a reminder of your country’s resilience, especially during these challenging times, as we collectively continue working towards the eradication of COVID-19. Although citizens cannot gather as they normally would to celebrate this date of significance, I hope that they find comfort in the fact that there are better days to come, when our cities and countries will embark on a path to recovery.
Locally, as we acknowledge this day that is special to many residents in the city, I recognize the important contributions of the Greek community in Toronto. They form an intrinsic part of our multicultural mosaic which is the foundation that helps shape Toronto’w identity as one of the most diverse cities in the world.
On behalf of Toronto Citi Council and the people of our city, I offer my best wishes to the Hellenic Republic and its citizens for continued success.
